Strength and Conditioning

Prior to his appointment with the 7’s Allan was employed at the High Performance Centre at the Sports Science Institute of South Africa. During his appointment with them he worked as the Biokinetisist for the Cape Cobras Cricket team for 2 seasons. During this period the team won the 2006 one day domestic championship. He also worked with various other teams and Individuals ( SA Men’s Hockey, SA u19 and 20 rugby, Santos, Morocco Swallows)
Allan has a BA Sports Science with Honours in Bionkinetics and during his studies he also played for and captained the Natal U19 rugby side.Allan has an extremely high work ethic, is a respected member of the Springbok set-up and has a love and passion for the game.
Last time we discussed how important it is to increase you fitness level prior to competing in a sevens tournament, and that depending on your level, you should look at doing at least two extra running fitness sessions per week.

The majority of people looking to participate in the shorter version are just finishing the 15’s season and after a brief introduction realize that there is a big difference between the two variations of the game.Players make the HUGE mistake in thinking that they are well conditioned to play 80min so surely 14 minutes won’t be that tough!
