We all have belief systems programmed into our sub-conscious, eg about what we can and can’t do. These beliefs stem from life experiences, cultural factors, random comments made about us by others and so on. We refer to these beliefs in order to make decisions on a daily basis - they help us decide how to respond in a particular situation.
The time immediately before the game is about preparing yourself to put into practice those skills which you have been rehearsing at training. There are no rights and wrongs in terms of how you do this – as long as it works for you. There are an infinite number of different permutations for what you could include in your preparation routine, but theoretically there is one such routine which works best for you.
